When you partner with Candi Solar, your journey toward renewable energy begins long before the first solar panel touches your roof. Our pre-construction services lay the groundwork that ensures your project not only meets your energy needs but also runs efficiently and seamlessly from start to finish. Let’s explore what happens behind the scenes during this crucial first stage of the solar journey.

Step 1: Solution Assessment- A Tailored Approach

At Candi Solar, we understand that no two projects are the same. That’s why our first step is to assess your energy requirements and site specifications thoroughly. We go beyond just looking at your current energy usage—we aim to ensure that the system we recommend serves your long-term needs.

  • Energy Yield Assessment (EYA): Accurately predicting how much energy your solar system will produce is the foundation of your project’s success. We perform site visits to verify shadow-free areas and further evaluate a detailed energy yield assessment (EYA) using advanced software tools such as Helioscope and PVsyst. This assessment independently validates the energy production estimates. Based on available data, we then analyse these estimates, ensuring accuracy and transparency at every step.

  • Solution Suitability: A robust system design is the key to optimising energy production and efficiency. Whether your project includes Solar PV, Diesel Generators (DG) in general, or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for South Africa we evaluate every aspect of the proposal based on regional requirements. From reviewing technical designs and datasheets to examining your electricity bills and understanding net metering options while focusing on, net feed-in, net billing, and behind the meters options for India, we ensure the proposed system is the perfect fit.

  • Feasibility Coordination and Pre-Design Studies: Coordination with expert subcontractors is critical at this stage. Candi Solar organises structural roof assessments and lightning protection risk assessments and reviews utility company regulations. Additionally, we conduct 10-14 days of metering at your point of connection with the grid to better understand your energy demand.

  • Health & Safety (H&S) Plan Review: Safety comes first in every project we undertake. Before construction begins, Candi Solar reviews the site-specific Health and Safety Plan prepared by the EPC contractor. “EPC” stands for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, and it refers to the company responsible for the design, procurement of necessary materials, and construction of the project. If necessary, we also appoint an H&S consultant to ensure these crucial documents meet all regulatory requirements and that every safety protocol is in place.

Step 2: EPC Assessment- The Right Partner for the Job

A solar project is only as good as the team behind it. That’s why selecting the right EPC partner is critical. Whether you’ve already chosen an EPC or need help finding one, Candi Solar ensures that only the most qualified teams handle your project.

  • Due Diligence on Your EPC (if already selected): If you’ve already identified an EPC partner, we perform thorough due diligence. We assess their track record, team capacity, and financial stability. We conduct site visits, ensuring that you’re working with a partner who can meet your project's demands.

  • Cost Benchmarking (if EPC already selected): When it comes to costs, we leave no stone unturned. If you’ve already selected an EPC, we benchmark their proposed costs for major equipment—such as PV modules, batteries(for South Africa), inverters, and transformers—against industry standards. This ensures you get the best value for your investment.

  • Introducing Suitable EPCs (if not yet selected): Don’t have an EPC yet? We’ve got you covered. We’ve built a network of trusted, vetted EPCs who have passed our rigorous evaluation processes. We introduce you to potential partners that are well-suited to your project’s location and technical requirements.

  • EPC Quote Request for Quotation (if no EPC identified): If you need an EPC, Candi Solar assists in creating a reference design and issuing an official Request for Quotation (RFQ). We invite EPCs to submit both technical and financial proposals, which are scored and evaluated independently. Once the proposals are reviewed, we present our findings and recommendations and onboard the best-suited contractor.

Step 3: Data Setup and Communication Design

A robust data setup ensures that your solar system performs optimally from day one. Candi Solar designs and implements a tailored communication system for your project, including data loggers, irradiation sensors, and network configurations. This guarantees that your system will be able to reliably monitor performance, providing you with real-time insights into energy production and efficiency.

The Pre-Construction Stage—Building a Solid Foundation

By the end of the pre-construction phase, Candi Solar has set the groundwork for a successful solar installation. We’ve carefully assessed your site’s energy needs, vetted the right partners, and laid out a clear path forward. Every step is designed to give you confidence in your solar journey—so while we handle the heavy lifting, you can sit back and enjoy the benefits.

In the next blog, we’ll dive into the construction phase, exploring what happens as your solar panels are installed and how we ensure everything is executed with expertise and precision. Stay tuned!
